What appetite stimulants do you swear by for cats. My vet has prescribed an antihistamine for anorexics.

Keep her on what she eats and she will soon gain weight. The vet knows best.

Other than cooking her own food (Chicken or fish with rice) you might try looking at why she is anorexic

I have mixed a touch of KMR 2 (kitten milk replacement) in with moist food and also in with hard food. Cats old and young LOVE it. You can buy a can of powder and it will last forever. I just add a tiny little bit, but it has helped me with several feral cats and also indoor kitties that simply do not want to eat and gain weight. Good Luck!

I do not know of any appetite stimulants per se, but I can suggest some bribe foods. These r the things u would sprinkle on or add to food to make it smellier or tastier.

Parmesan cheese
Liver flakes
Wysong Dentatreat (smells like cheese)
Wysong Archetype (my Poppy loves this stuff)
Crushed dried foods that ur cat already likes
Meat baby foods (with no seasonings)
A drop or two of soy sauce
A pinch or less of salt
Fish oil (my own idea, worth a shot)

One suggestion of a different food u can try is Natural Balance venison & green pea (canned). Poppy is very picky but she loves this food, & it is better quality. It might be worth picking up a can.

Your vet can prescribe something like cyproheptadine which is an appetite stimulant. Others have alsoi given good advice, chicken, steak, tuna baby food w/o onions are good to get the appetite going.

Once you get her eatinmg regularly, I would ditch that garbage that you are feeding and go to canned foods w/o gravy. A quality canned food like wellness or merrick may be your answer if you can afford them

When I had a cat that did not eat much and was a little underweight, I normally mixed her hard food with canned cat food. It got the cat eating and she reached a healthy weight.

I do not know if you have tried that with your cat, but I wish her luck.

Sometimes the oil or water from a can of tuna makes cats go crazy. You could try offering her some on a dish. If she likes it you can use it drizzled over her cat food.

We have one cat who will sell her little black soul for prawns - I keep a bag in the fridge & defrost maybe half a dozen occasionally for her; she also helps to dispose of any trimmings from steak (especially fillet).
I had a little girl cat once who was not very interested in anything except raw turkey mince (from supermarket) - it was either that or she would not eat & my Vet said ''Better a poor diet, than no diet''
Is there any reason why she can not stay on her ProPlan? As long as she has plenty of water she will be OK on a dry food.
One of mine eats very little beside Iams & I just leave it out so that she can pick whenever she wants any. Does not seem to do her much harm since she is very lively & is 14 years now.

Science Diet canned AD is made out of ground liver & most cats cannot resist it. Also plain chicken human baby food is also one that most cats cannot resist - do not get the stuff that has veggies in it - just plain chicken. Warm them up just a little & test it with ur finger so that it is not too hot. Whiskas fish in a pouch is very tempting also. Albon is a drug that is safe & is a good stimulant to get the cat to start eating though I would talk to the vet to find out what he would recommend. You might want to see another vet to see if there might be something else wrong with her to make her stop eating.
