Hi, the blue areas of my 2 month tattoo are bumpy and there are some angry red patches around parts of it.
- should l continue with all the antihistamines (i'm taking them orally and apllying antihistamine cream?
- l saw somewhere that steroid creams may help with the allergic reaction, any ideas about that?
- l found a webpage that suggests using silver sulphadiazine dressings for allergic reactions to tattoo ink, anybody know anything about it?
- has anybody got any really good suggestions of anything that l can do to make my tattoo better?! l wanna use savlon on it all the time as it says ''skin healing cream'' on the tube, do you think this would be better than the antihistamine cream?
- how can l expect my tattoo to end up looking?l absolutely love it and need to mentally prepare myself for how it is going to end up! l do not mind so much if the bumpy-ness stays but will the red patches around some of the blue always be there?or is the blue ink going to come out altogether?
Thanks!

I'm allergic to the blue in my tattoo, have been on antihistamines for 2 weeks and no change, any advice pleas

First of all, you cannot diagnose an allergic reaction to tattoo ink without a punch biopsy of the skin there. IF it is assumed you are reacting, steroids are usually prescribed by the docs.

You might have just been overdoing all the ointments, etc. or the blue was bad ink.anything is possible.

Two months is abnormal for any skin irritation at all. Time to see a doc.

this is something you're going to have to speak to both your doctor and your tattoo artist about.

IM A PROFFESIONAL TATTOO ARTIST

right firstly savalon is the best cream protection for the reaction u have described at my shop we tell people to use savlon for 2 weeks after geting the tat it is standard issue

my advice is keep up with the savlon & apply it 4 times a day this will reduce the reddness & swelling (your bumpy marks)

you will not find that ur tattoo looks abnormal once it is fully healed

DONT WORRY IT WILL BE FINE

i get people coming into my shop with that sort of thing all the time

hope this helps ur tat will look great if u just keep up the savalon

good luck

first talk to your tattoo artist and see what they suggest and/or see a dermatologist - your tattoo once it heals and it may be a long time will probably have un even color in the blue area - either live with it or have it recolored (not blue0 but then you risk another reaction
